GIYRA BASKETBALL FAQs

 

  1. What is the time commitment for practice?
  2. Practice is usually one day per week between the hours of 5-9 for approximately 1 ˝ hours.  Some coaches will try to do an extra practice per week if they have gym time available but this depends on your coach.  Practice location is also dependent on your coach and will either be at Meridian or Parke Lane Elementary Gyms

 

  1. When and where are the games?
  2. Games are held at the Grosse Ile Middle School Gym off of East River Road .  5/6 grade kids play in the larger gym, 3/4 grade kids play in the smaller gym.  Games are held Saturdays beginning Jan. 10th and ending Feb. 28th

 

  1. What is the End of the Year Party and what type of volunteer do you need?
  2. End of the year party is the hour directly following your child’s last game on Feb. 28th. GIYRA will provide pizza and drinks and your coach will hand out a trophy, t-shirt, and pictures if you ordered any to each of the kids on their team.  We simply would like a parent to help coordinate drinks/pizza for each team (so 4 parents per hour during the hour your child is there) to keep the process orderly.  To have one parent pass out the pizza, drinks, napkins at the team table instead of 40 kids wandering around trying to find what they need.

 

  1. Where can I sign up? 
  2. There is one more open registration day at CENTENNIAL FARM 11/15/08 from 9-12.  You can also download a form from the webpage and mail it with your check or you can receive a form from your child from school and mail it.  Last day for open enrollment is the day of the player’s clinic (11/22 at the Grosse Ile Middle School ).  After that there is an additional $15 late registration fee.  No applications will be accepted after 12/15/08.
